The Special Ones
We are blessed to see many wonderful dogs come and go through our adoption program. Every one of them is special in their own way, but today we have several great dogs who haven't found homes solely because of special medical needs.
To encourage their adoption, we have begun including medical vouchers to help offset the cost of caring for them. In this difficult economy perhaps people just need a little help convince them to open their homes to these extra-special dogs.
Please read their stories. They have a lot of love to give and would be so very grateful you saw past their medical needs to provide that forever home they each deserve.

Cooper's Cardiologist
Cooper the friendly, happy cocker spaniel has a heart problem. He is in permanent foster care where he can live out his life in a loving home. So far we have been able to cover the echocardiogram diagnostic costs, but the specialists have told us heart surgery is not feasible for his congenital condition. Please consider donating toward the ongoing cost of the medication that keeps him comfortable and safeguards against pneumonia. |

Puppy Mystery Illness
This tiny young puppy was surrendered to us after she was purchased at a yard sale! She fell ill with a strange malady none of our expert veterinarians have been able to diagnose yet. Her WBC is very low. She has allergy-like itching and periodic swelling in her rear legs. She doesn’t feel like eating and has stomach upsets. This little angel will require supportive care and expensive tests to find a diagnosis that can lead to her recovery. Please help! |

Sweet Sammy has Diabetes Insipidus
This adorable, loving little dog is a special needs case because he has diabetes insipidus. This condition causes him to produce too much very dilute urine. He needs daily medicine to help control it. Because he will be harder to adopt with his condition, his medication will be an ongoing need until the right loving, patient home comes along. |

Shiloh’s Spinal and Hip Condition
Shiloh is a handsome German Shepherd Dog, only 3 years old. Shiloh was rescued from outdoor pen conditions that were clean but lonely. We learned he has severe dysplasia and needs expensive hip replacement surgery before he is adoptable. Please consider donating toward his surgery so he can find a forever home.
Update from our President, Lisa Leonard: Thank you to everyone who donated to Shiloh for his hip problems. With the funds, we were able to get the expensive diagnostics required by specialists. Unfortunately, we learned his hip and spinal abnormalities are so extensive, surgery to correct it all is cost prohibitive at over twelve thousand dollars. Shiloh will remain in our care as a permanent foster. He is kept comfortable with pain and anti-inflammatory medication and he is very much loved by his foster family. His quality of life remains good. |
