Brothers From Another Mother |

In June a few years ago, we had just gotten back from vacation and headed to Petsmart to buy food for our beagle, Toby, who was at our vet while we had been out of town. On our way into the store we stopped outside to check out the dogs that HSFC had brought to find a home. We spent a few minutes admiring the dogs there and went inside to make our purchase. On our way out we stopped to talk to the quiet, little beagle on the end. As we touched him through the crate he nudged his body up against the side. We spent a few minutes petting him and one of the volunteers informed us that he had a possible seizure issue and had been adopted out once and returned. We left after a few minutes but couldn’t get Cletus off our mind.

We adopted a dog from you guys about 3 weeks ago. You called him Aidain there but we renamed him Jersey. We had to, because our younger son’s name is Aidan! Jersey is such a great dog. He already knew many tricks when we got him and he surprised us by being 100% house broken and extremely responsive. He is also phenomenal with the kids. In fact, our neighbor’s kids have been known to borrow him for a play date because he’s so much fun.
We take him to the dog park about 3 times a week and he loves showing off how fast he can run! Everyone always comments on how fast he is. It’s a joy to watch him play and have fun. I’m sending a couple of pictures so you can see how at home he’s made himself. Thanks for letting us adopt him. He’s the perfect dog for our family!

I thought I would send you a few new pictures and tell you of Hope's progress. She is up to 61 pounds and has grown a little bit which is good. She loves to incite play and brings balls or other toys and throws them in your lap followed by a very enticing look:) She will go find a ball to play most times when asked. She asks nicely to go out (or more persistently if ignored...barks at you and heads toward the nearest door), but must be watched as she may simply want to chase the rabbit or deer that she knows are in the backyard. She has generally gotten over her separation anxiety and is now OK alone in the house for at least 3-4 hours, although she does get up to see out windows while we are gone requiring the raising of any blinds.

We are so glad we picked her. She smart, attentive, loving and obedient, not to mention very pretty. Thank you so much for being a part of her salvation.

I decided to write you and give you an update on the cat we adopted last summer. Her name at the time was Lacy and she is a three year old Tabby. My kids have lovingly renamed her to Mushu - like the little guardian dragon. When we adopted her I could tell that the woman in the office was leery about allowing a cat to come home with a crazy lady with four kids. I am so glad you allowed me to adopt her. I can not tell you how big of a part of our family she has become. Each night she takes turns going around and sleeping with the kids. I have two girls and two boys.. they each share a room. Mushu has to say goodnight to the kids before they go to bed. As soon as I am awake in the mornings she runs to me and wants me to hold her. I never thought a cat could be so loving. She is more of a dog than my dog has ever been! :) I just wanted to let you know how she is doing. I can not believe how wonderful this cat is. It is as if she was really meant to be a part of our family. Even with the little ones annoy her she never hurts them but is old enough to know how to tell them to leave her alone. Just this morning when my 4 year old son woke up he came downstairs and he and I sat on the couch watching a little TV. Mushu curled right up in HIS lap and he held her like a teddy bear while we both were petting her. I never would have believed a cat could be like this. Thank you!
