Saylor

saylor2Hi, my name is Saylor.  I was adopted from the Humane Society in October of 2002 and lived with my family until March of 2007. I was a very happy pup and felt right at home with my new family until one day my new mom and dad decided to part ways. I thought surely one of the two would take me with them but no, I was returned to the Humane Society a scared boy.

The Feral Princess

princesssaph1The Feral Princess is dedicated to Aunt Sheri and my little princess, who has inspired me to write this.  Just goes to show you that with hard work, a little patience, and a lot of cat nip you can make a difference in the lives of animals.  Written By: Amanda O’Neill (11)

Oliver and Sadie (AKA Twirl and Dot)

dottwirlOn Sunday our parents told us to get in the car to do a family activity. My parents did a superb job on concealing the excellent surprise. So we ended up seeing the animal shelter and were overjoyed.

After much decision making we decided among two young kittens. Their names were Dot and Twirl, and both are under a year. Dot was about ten months old and Twirl was about six months. Once the kittens reached our home we created a safe place for them- the basement.twirl

We decided to rename Twirl and Dot- they are now Oliver and Sadie. They were playful and eager to “graduate” to the upstairs, and quickly migrated.

Oliver purely lives for this one blanket we have, that has soft material that warms you up faster than light moves. Sadie loves our dining room and often sits on a chair with the dining table over her head.

Both love pounce- a tasty cat treat- just like our older cat Lulu. All of these three cats love sitting and resting, but Sadie and Oliver also love to play… especially Oliver. He runs and as soon as he sees me he rolls over and is expecting me to scratch him on the stomach. Sadie is really enjoying string, and both REALLY LOVE to chase the laser light.

Over all, everything rocks about them! dot

Story of Survival Brownie I and II

Brownie
Update:  ADOPTED!!!!

When you look into the eyes of these two beautiful babies, you would never imagine what a difficult life they have lived so far.  They were brought into this world by an owner who refused to spay and neuter the pets he owned.  Along with falling on hard times like many of us, his female Australian Shepherd mix continued to have batch after batch of puppies.  Her last batch of puppies died of Parvo.  In a desperate attempt to keep this litter of puppies alive, he made a decision to call the Humane Society of Forsyth County.

Success Stories - Nosey and Diamond

NoseyAn update on the first 24 hours with Biggie (aka Nosey) and Tupac (aka Diamond):

Currently, Tupac (aka Diamond) is trying to assist with the typing.  Biggie (aka Nosey) is trying his best to nap.  Fat chance of that happening after last night!  Oh, no.  Biggie is staying up so he's nice and tired tonight.

Actually, the acclamation process has gone very quickly!  Both cats are very lovable and like to be cuddled and held.  Extremely social - and seem to get along splendidly.  There are a few little spats here and there - mainly territorial.  We've already graduated to roaming around freely while supervised - and, they have their very own bedroom!  Biggie likes to sleep on top of the bed.  Tupac favors underneath.

They've discovered the tree - as all cats do at Christmas.  Thankfully, both of them seem to be aware of their size since the tree is still standing.  The ornaments are the only victims to fall prey.  Poor Rudolph.

They did succeed in keeping us up almost the entire night.  Apparently, flying up and down the stairs is quite entertaining.  I wish I found it entertaining.  Maybe I could take off a few lbs.  But, I digress.

diamond and noseyIt's amazing how much time it takes to follow them around and see what items peak their interest which should not (or, that you don't want to be of interest).  Cat proofing has kept me quite busy!

They are happy as can be and we just love them already.
