We need fosters desperately, especially for cats and kittens!!  Please consider fostering of pets that have been at our shelter for a long time, they are in need of a real home environment.  

If you have ever wondered how you could help the most, the answer right now is fostering.  By taking an adoptable pet into your home, you open up another safe space for an animal in need.  Fostering expands the capacity of the Humane Society and it allows us to help more animals.

The dog waiting list this long, there are 40 dogs waiting for space in our program!   Currently, there are appoximately 85 cats and kittens waiting to get into our shelter.

What is fostering?

• Caring for a dog/cat in your home, much as you would you own pet, following the HSFC process for adopting the pet to its forever home (applications approved by HSFC)
• Drop-off/pick up the pet at adopt events
• The HSFC will provide the medical care for the pet as well as food, litter, and supplies when available.

How do you give them up?

I won’t lie, it is hard to see your foster get adopted, but it also joyful to know they are going to their forever home.  The only way I am able to keep fostering is to FOCUS ON THE NEXT ONE!  If I adopt my foster, I am closing the door to the next pet who needs my help and I want to help as many as possible.
