Trooper: The yellow dog lay very still on the side of Hyde Road after being hit by a passing car. Several people drove right past without stopping. When a kind soul did stop, she was sure he was too far gone. She was about to turn and leave when she saw his chest take one breath. Desperate to save him, she managed to get him into her car and phoned the Humane Society. We agreed to help, sending her to our most trusted trauma vet. He said it didn't look good, the dog's head injuries were severe, but he gathered him up and took him back to start a catheter. Days and weeks passed as the badly injured dog regained control of his head movements, managed to sit up, and finally was able to stand again on his own. It will be an ongoing recovery for the small yellow lab mix we now call Trooper. Please consider donating toward his care while he is on the road to recovery.
