They are the Special Ones. We are blessed to see many wonderful dogs come and go through our adoption program. Every one of them is special in their own way, but today we have several great dogs who haven't found homes solely because of special medical needs.
To encourage their adoption, we have begun including medical vouchers to help offset the cost of caring for them. In this difficult economy perhaps people just need a little help convince them to open their homes to these extra-special dogs.
Please read their stories. They have a lot of love to give and would be so very grateful you saw past their medical needs to provide that forever home they each deserve.
Please consider donating toward the cost of their care while they wait for that perfect forever home.

Sweet Sammy has Diabetes Insipidus
This adorable, loving little dog is a special needs case because he has diabetes insipidus. This condition causes him to produce too much very dilute urine. He needs daily medicine to help control it. Because he will be harder to adopt with his condition, his medication will be an ongoing need until the right loving, patient home comes along. |

Cooper's Cardiologist
Cooper the friendly, happy cocker spaniel has a heart problem. He is in permanent foster care where he can live out his life in a loving home. So far we have been able to cover the echocardiogram diagnostic costs, but the specialists have told us heart surgery is not feasible for his congenital condition. Please consider donating toward the ongoing cost of the medication that keeps him comfortable and safeguards against pneumonia. |

Rocky's Medicine.
Glad to meet you, I'm Rocky. My life really was rocky for a while. I lost one of my legs in a car accident and then my family turned me in to the Humane Society. I was scared. The people didn't know they weren't supposed to touch my other leg. It still hurt a lot. I didn't want to be mean, but I had to growl to let them know when it hurt. Pretty quick, they figured out what was wrong and got me the medicine I need to feel good again. Now I never have to growl at all! I can be nice and friendly and snuggle all the time with no pain. My medicine is very affordable, so don't let that hold you back from adopting me. |
