February 2011. As a family, we want to thank the Humane Society for helping Brandon reach a childhood dream of becoming an Eagle Scout. When he was five years old he asked me what it would take to become an Eagle Scout. I had no clue.
We figured it out together and began a 9 year journey to Eagle. He has over 43 merit badges when only 21 were required. His eagle project was almost 300 man-hours when only 100 would have sufficed. He is now a rescue-walker for the dogs that uses the very path he created for the Eagle Project. There's a lot of pride in this mom right now, but I know it wouldn't have happened without the assistance, volunteers and resources provided by the Humane Society.

The Humane Society of Forsyth County is incredibly grateful to Brandon and his family for the amazing dog walking area he created as his Eagle Scout project. The dogs LOVE it! |

South Forsyth DECA helps at the Thrift Store |

The students volunteered to help with our mounds of clothes when they came to view the store. They could not believe all the clothing donations! They wanted to help by giving us a work day (their idea!). We had a great day and got several mountains of clothes out of bags and on the hangers to sell! A big thank you to the SFHS DECA club students! February 2011

A few are a little shy. A few are quite gregarious. Some can only volunteer a few hours a month. Some are able to volunteer a few hours every day. But they all share a love of kitties and a passion to help them find their purrrfect forever home. They are the “Cat Adoption Team.”
These energetic folks work individually and/or as part of a team to complete all the steps necessary for successful adoptions. Every day, one or more volunteers of the Cat Adoption Team are busy doing something.
Taking pictures of kitties... Writing stories about each kitty…Setting up the adoption booth at offsite adoption events … Transporting kitties to and from adoption events… Scheduling volunteers to work the adoptions every week… Working the adoption events… Doing home visits. Our wonderful cat team members perform these chores and so much more!
This year, the Cat Adoption Team is expecting to

How One Girl is Making a Difference

Meghan’s passion for helping the dogs at the local No Kill Forsyth County Humane Society has been part of our lives since March, 2009; however, her passion for animals has been with us since she was born. Meghan (8 years old) and her brother James (7 years old) have Sampson (a bloodhound), Trigger (a black domestic short hair cat), and Shylow and Christy (guinea pigs). Meghan had read all dog breed books and studied all about the training of dogs when we realized her need to still do more. We visited the shelter to learn more of how she could help and that is when we learned about the fostering a dog program. Our family prepared mentally on the challenges of becoming a foster home to dogs; however, we never prepared for the unexpected and harder challenges of Meghan’s allergies that would come after.
