For years, a simple grey wooden shed located at our adoption center in North Forsyth County has been the source of food for hungry animals whose owners are down on their luck and unable to pet food. When our economy worsened, the number of hungry pets sky rocketed.
Never willing to look the other way, the Humane Society of Forsyth County found creative ways to keep our Pet Food Pantry shelves stocked for those in desperate need. Receipients are qualiified for the program based on their demonstrated financial need. We began tracking the recipients, the number dogs or cats they cared for and whether those pets were spayed or neutered.
We were astonished to find out we were actually feeding 1897 dogs and cats in one year! We focus our SNAP program on encouraging owners unable to feed their pets to make sure their animals are spayed or neutered to avoid exacerbating the problem. Your donations keep our Pet Food Pantry stocked. |
