| Volunteer Spotlight: Kathy Milstead |
February 2011. Her sweet smile is one of the first things you notice when you meet Kathy. Her commitment to helping animals is undeniable. But it is her determination to serve and endless energy, that makes Kathy one of our most special volunteers. It is also the reason that Kathy has been recently elected to the HSFC Board and is now the new Cat Chair!
For almost 4 years, Kathy has been an integral part of the Cat Team, as one of the Team Lead's at the offsite adoption events. Her experience with kitties and her outgoing personality is a winning combination and has resulted in many adoptions at these events. Kathy is also a regular at the Adoption Center, giving love and attention to the kitties (with maybe a little extra for her special favorites, Middie, Charlie, Fiona and Lilly), doing deep cleaning of the cat rooms and helping out with adoptions there.
Our energizer bunny, Kathy, still kept on going....and scored a major advertising win for us by getting the Movies 400 to run an ad about the HSFC that will run indefinitely. In addition to all of that, Kathy has made the book section of the thrift store her special project. She has spent countless hours organizing and re-organizing the books, as well as helping the thrift store in other areas! Kathy and Charlie have a loving home filled with 8 cats that are all rescues. She truly lives a life of service! So the next time you see Kathy, please join us in thanking her for ALL she does for the HSFC. If you have a little free time and a lot of love in your heart, you could help save an animal by volunteering. Never satisfied that she has done enough, Kathy took the initiative to contact Walmart and Ingles and convinced them to donate broken bag food and litter. Kathy has a wonderful husband, Charlie, who helps her to pick up the donations from the stores and bring them to the shelter.
