| Volunteer Spotlight: Robin Pressley |
Robin Pressley! Robin started volunteering with us early this year. As you can imagine, there are many paths that lead volunteers to become part of the humane society family. For Robin, it started with a flier. The Humane Society was looking for construction and painting help. Robin came in and spoke to Eric Shorb, The Humane Society of Forsyth County Thrift Store Manager. Eric explained that all he was looking for was four hours a week. She figured she could do that! She began volunteering at the Thrift Store and quickly fell in love with the volunteers and her commitment quickly grew.
At the Thrift Store, Robin does whatever needs to be done. This includes working the register, sorting and pricing donated items from our very generous donors or putting these gently used treasures out on the shelves. Robin is a self-starter and very dependable. She has a fantastic sense of humor and has spent many hours at the thrift store. When she is done for the day she goes home feeling good knowing she has accomplished something. She knows that she has done something to benefit both people and the animals.
Robin loves to see the reaction on our customers’ faces when they realize that the thrift store is part of the humane society. During her interaction with the customers she uses this time to increase the level of awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering to help fight pet overpopulation. Wanting to make even more of a difference, Robin came up with the idea to make and sell earrings to benefit us. You can find Robin’s custom made earrings at the Thrift Store and various other fund raising events which benefits the Humane Society. When she is not busy at the Thrift Store, you may bump into her at an event we are participating at like Taste of Forsyth, Charming Charlies or Mutts and More Festival. She is crazy about helping the animals in any way that she can. Robin’s family includes Poppy and Lola. We are very fortunate to have Robin be part of our wonderful volunteer family. We hope you will join us in thanking Robin Pressley for all she does for the HSFC. If you have a little free time and a lot of love in your heart, you could help us save even more animals! We are always looking for help at offsite adoption events and more. To get involved is easy…just contact us at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
