Pet Food Pantry

The Humane Society of Forsyth County (HSFC)’s Community Pet Food Pantry helps support local families in need by providing free pet food for their loving pets. It is our goal to ensure that no animals are surrendered to local shelters because their guardians cannot afford to feed them.

About

For years, a simple grey wooden shed located at our adoption center in North Forsyth County has been the source of food for hungry animals whose owners are down on their luck and unable to afford it. When our economy took a down turn, the number of hungry pets began to increase!

Never willing to look the other way, the Humane Society of Forsyth County found creative ways to keep our Pet Food Pantry shelves stocked for those in desperate need. Recipients are qualified for the program based on their demonstrated financial need. We realize that many families receiving food stamps and other programs are unable to purchase pet food with an EBT card. On our pet food pantry program allows families to receive food once a month (every 4 weeks) for up to four pets in their care.

To participate in this program, we require the following:
• Applicant must be 18 years or older
• Only 1 applicant per household
• A completed application
• A dated letter stating you are currently receiving Government Assistance
• Government issued photo ID
• Proof of Forsyth County residency (you may provide a lease agreement, car tag registration, water bill or power bill.
• Proof of current rabies vaccination for each pet (Required by Georgia State Law)
If your pets need vaccinations, please speak with our shelter staff regarding low cost options that you may qualify for.
