Court-Ordered Community Service & Pre-Trial Service Program
The Humane Society of Forsyth County (HSFC) welcomes individuals who are seeking to fulfill court-ordered community service hours or Pre-Trial Service requirements.
Community Service Workers (CSWs) and Pre-Trial Service workers are not permitted to work directly with animals. Instead, participants perform essential support duties that help maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for the animals in our care. Their contributions play an important role in helping HSFC operate efficiently and effectively.
Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the HSFC Community Service or Pre-Trial Service Program, individuals must:
– Provide court documentation outlining their conviction(s), including the probation or parole officer’s name and contact information, and DOC number (if applicable).
– Be at least 17 years of age to work in the cat building.
– Be at least 18 years of age to work in the dog building.
– If under 18 years of age, have a parent or legal guardian complete and sign all required paperwork before beginning service hours.
– Be able to follow directions and work under staff supervision.
– Be truthful and forthcoming regarding the nature of their offense(s).
– Be physically capable of performing assigned duties, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and other physical labor without restrictions that would prevent completion of assigned tasks.
Acceptance into the Community Service and Pre-Trial Service Program is contingent upon review and approval by HSFC management. Submission of court documentation or a request for service hours does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
Work Assignments
Work assignments are determined solely by HSFC staff based on the organization’s operational needs. Assignments are not open for discussion or negotiation.
Individuals who refuse assigned duties, fail to follow staff instructions, or violate HSFC policies may be dismissed from the program and may not receive credit for completed service hours.
