March 18, 2020

We hope this message finds you all well. We would like to take a moment to update you on the precautions our shelter will be taking considering the current outbreak of the Coronavirus COVID 19 as well as suggestions from federal and local government. We are taking the health of our employees, volunteers, clients, and community service very seriously and will be doing our best to ensure everyone can feel safe when coming into the shelter. The following changes will be made to our current schedule:

Employees

We will continue to report to the shelter, because we have precious furs that need to be taken care of. We are taking extra measures to clean and disinfect all surfaces, multiple times a day. We are here to check voicemail and email daily.

Adoptions

Effective 3/18/2020 to protect the health of our employees and the general public our adoption center will be closed unless you have a scheduled appointment:
If you are a serious adopter, please follow the steps outlined below:
1. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out and submit the pre-adoption application online. Applications can be found at www.forsythpets.org/adoptions
2. Once your application has been received and reviewed an associate will contact you to approve your application and schedule an appointment to meet the animal.
3. Appointments will be restricted to one family member at a time.
If you have questions or would like more information, please contact the adoption center at 770-887-6480.

Appointments

We are not canceling appointments or clinics currently. We would like to limit our chance of exposure to the virus by limiting client interaction. Basically, if you are sick, think you may be sick or think you may have been exposed, please reschedule. Please think of us as your extended family, with our own families that could be at high risk. If you want to cancel your appointment, or reschedule for a later date, please know that we will do our best to accommodate your request. Please call and verify our availability before making the trip to the shelter.

Check-In Policy – we will limit access to the check-in area by providing each person with a number as they park at the facility. When your number is called you can come in with your animal. We will go through the process and get you out the door before we call in the next customer. This is for every clients safety.
Check-Out Policy – call ahead let us know you are on the way and we will bring your animal out. Please pay over the phone before pick up.

Food Pantry

Please call ahead and we will do our best to have it prepared for you in advance of your arrival, again to eliminate the potential exposure to germs.

Volunteers/Community Outreach Programs

All animal visitation and socialization are canceled at this time. All volunteering individuals and group programs will be canceled until further notice, effective immediately on 3/16/20.

Thank you for your consideration during this time.
We wish everyone health and safety.
