The Humane Society of Forsyth County (HSFC)’s Community Pet Food Pantry helps support local families in need by providing free pet food for their loving pets. It is our goal to ensure that no animals are surrendered to local shelters because their guardians cannot afford to feed them.
For years, a simple grey wooden shed located at our adoption center in North Forsyth County has been the source of food for hungry animals whose owners are down on their luck and unable to afford it. When our economy worsened, the number of hungry pets sky rocketed !
Never willing to look the other way, the Humane Society of Forsyth County found creative ways to keep our Pet Food Pantry shelves stocked for those in desperate need. Recipients are qualified for the program based on their demonstrated financial need.
We began tracking the recipients, the number dogs or cats they cared for and whether those pets were spayed or neutered. We were astonished to find out we were actually feeding over 500 dogs and cats.
